IT or Tech Industries in Bhilai
Given the rapid industrialization and commercialization over the past ten years, as well as the rise in the cost of power for these C&I consumers, open access has proven to be a very successful business strategy. It is important to highlight that over the past ten years, numerous micro, small, and medium-sized businesses have sprouted up all over the nation, with the largest concentrations in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. Additionally, MSMEs are concentrated in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Bihar in India, which supports the case for open access.
Additionally, the expansion of commercial facilities like IT parks, data centers, corporate parks, culinary parks, leisure hubs, etc. has also increased the number of OA transactions in these states. Chhattisgarh is another state that has recently seen a lot of industry growth.
The state government is concentrating on establishing enterprises in the fields of electronics and engineering, food processing, ethanol, gems and jewelry, and forest products. Given the state’s emphasis on the development of renewable energy sources, there is a sizable untapped market for green open access with so many additional industry clusters planned around the state in Bilaspur, Durg, Bhilai, Korba, and Raigarh.
Additionally, from 2019 to 2022, the state raised the amount of the renewable purchase obligation (RPO) from 17.5% to 21.18%. Furthermore, the recent Green Open Access Rules (GOAR), 2022 in mind, further strengthen the case for green open access not only in Chhattisgarh but in other states as well. The open access transaction for green energy has been reduced from 1MW to 100KW to enable small consumers to purchase renewable power through open access.
